Hi, I'm San Shine!
I was born in an extremely poor family in South Korea. Poverty led us to migrate to Saudi Arabia in the 80s. I didn't speak a word of English until age 12 when I was separated from my parents to attend an American Int'l boarding school in Austria. I was told how to dress, behave, talk as a Korean, as a Saudi, as an Austrian, as an American, on and on. I loved the life of travel but deep inside I felt deeply lonely like I couldn't belong anywhere.
I'll never forget the shame I felt in my body, when my Korean auntie took off my fashionably ripped jeans and black Metallica shirt I wore on my flight from Austria. She redressed me with a flowery skirt, to fit me in with the role of girls in Korea.
I still remember the splitting headache I felt when I finally made it to my dream college in California, the long journey to land. Then the college counselor tells me to spend the summer "abroad" for better job prospects. 'Wait, what!? I just finally got here. Which direction is abroad? Where is home?'
What about the void in my heart, as my Italian Irish partner is about to propose, and I know deep inside, a part of me says "yes" and another part of me says "I don't feel fully seen by you... I never do".
This isn't another therapy method or coaching course. All of it helped but none of it worked until I made the decision for myself to become ALL OF ME.
